Summary of Gentoo council meeting 11 February 2018

Agenda
======
1. Roll call
2. Status of nios2 and riscv [1]
3. Mailing list posting restrictions [1]
4. Open bugs with council involvement
5. Open floor

Roll call
=========
Present: dilfridge, k_f, mgorny, slyfox, tamiko, ulm, williamh

Status of nios2 and riscv
=========================
There has been no visible activity for these architectures since the
last meeting. They are still not backed by arch teams, and no packages
are keyworded for them. It was noted in the discussion that it may be
better to provide a clean slate for anyone who will wish to readd
these arches.

- Vote: Remove nios2 and riscv from profiles.
  Accepted with 6 yes votes and 1 abstention.

Mailing list posting restrictions
=================================
The council discussed several options, like lifting the restrictions
entirely, using moderation, or blacklisting instead of a whitelisting.
Finally, the previous decisions were confirmed. K_F volunteered to
liaise with infra for implementation.

- Vote: The council confirms its decisions taken in the 20171210
  meeting about mailing list restrictions.
  Accepted with 4 yes votes, 1 no vote, and 2 abstentions.

Open bugs with council involvement
==================================
- Bug 635344 "[TRACKER] manifest-hashes replacement":
  This is well in progress; the bug can be closed.

- Bug 637328 "GLEP 14 needs to be updated":
  The security project is still working on this, but it will not be
  finished before the upcoming election of a new security lead.

- Bug 642072 "Joint venture to deal with copyright issues":
  In progress, and mostly a foundation matter.

- Bug 644754 "nios2 & riscv: arches added without a backing arch team":
  Covered by a previous topic of the agenda.

Open floor
==========
- mgorny's work on OpenPGP signing of the gentoo repository is
  appreciated.
- A recent conflict between a council member and trustees has been
  settled.
- Council members thank all developers helping at FOSDEM. The upcoming
  SCALE conference is mentioned. In general, we should participate at
  conferences for public perception and recruiting.
